Local Monitoring

SOFLAG is developing a network of gauge boards, stream level monitoring sites and boreholes at key sites to help monitor water levels during flood events in the South Oxford area. The gauge boards will be located in streams, in gardens prone to groundwater flooding, and at locations away from rivers where flood waters accumulate. The gauge boards will be monitored by community volunteers. These will be complemented by automatic radar-based water level devices that will provide updated stream levels to this web site every 15 minutes. In addition there will be three boreholes equipped with automatic water level measurement devices which will also be displayed here. This page also pulls in data from the local live EA-operated river stations.

The map and the table below will show all the local monitoring sites, including those of the Environment Agency. Currently this just includes the local EA river stations and the one SOFLAG borehole that is live. The table provides readings from these sites relative to a point at each location but we have also included a chart above the table that shows all the levels relative to Ordnance Datum (mean sea level) so the relative height of local water levels can be compared. The table includes links to individual graphs for each site and external links to the EA web pages for each station, where these exist.
