About

SOFLAG stands for the South Oxford Flood Action Group. We’re a group of local residents working together to help residents and local businesses in Grandpont, New Hinksey and Cold Harbour to be better prepared for flood events. We’re supported by local councillors, other flood groups in the city, and Project Groundwater.

On 21 March 2024, in collaboration with Project Groundwater, a meeting was held in the Wytham Street Church to assess the season’s events, leading to the formation of this group, SOFLAG.

With the impacts of climate change, it is likely that flooding events will become more frequent and more severe. It’s important therefore, that residents and businesses in South Oxford are supported in building flood and community resilience.

SOFLAG aims to:

  • Spread awareness of the flood risk in the area.
  • Increase access to advice, support and information on flooding.
  • Provide news during flood events and act as a link between residents and key agencies.
  • Identify ways of communicating with members of the community, including those without internet.

If you would like to become part of the SOFLAG coordinating group, or just want to be kept up to date during flood events please email: southoxfordfloodaction@gmail.com.
